Arcadia’ Client RIQI Makes HIE First with Direct Project
With Arcadia’s program management and systems integration support, RIQI implemented the first-ever Direct Project production of a provider-to-provider health information exchange. The message, which specifically supports Stage 1 criteria for Meaningful Use, was sent between members of the Rhode Island Primary Care Physicians Corporation this week.

RIQI’s accomplishment was heralded at a special briefing this morning by Aneesh Chopra, U.S. Chief Technology Officer; Todd Park, U.S. Department of Health and Human Services Chief Technology Officer; and Dr. David Blumenthal, National Coordinator for Health IT.
“This recognition shows that Rhode Island continues to be a nationwide leader in improving healthcare with better information technology, said Rhode Island U.S. Sen. Sheldon Whitehouse in a statement. “Healthcare providers communicating with each other in a secure and cost-efficient way helps patients get better sooner with less hassle and confusion.
Laura Adams, president and CEO of RIQI, acknowledged Arcadia’s important collaborative role in the unprecedented accomplishment.
“Throughout the pilot, RIQI has worked with a number of key partners, including Arcadia Solutions,” she said in a statement.
At Arcadia, we are proud to be partners with a cutting-edge and innovative organization like RIQI, which continues to make tangible strides in healthcare improvement through health information technology.
